FA Vase First Qualifying Round
After a Michael Smith goal had given Canning Town a 1-1 draw against Eton Manor at Aveley last weekend, Wednesday’s replay ended with the Essex Senior League team going through following a 3-0 victory.
Senior Division Cup Round One
It took extra time to separate new boys Toby from Premier Division Harold Wood Athletic after the score was level at 1-1 after 90 minutes. Brad Woodards scored for the hosts but Dave Sadler, Chris Wolff, Des Gallon and Tom Ziepe put Wood through.
Goals from Danny Finch, Keith Martin and Joe Huggett gave Harold Hill a 3-2 win in a tight match against near neighbours Ongar Town, whose goals came from Nick Evans and an own goal.
Reserve Division Cup Round One
Ben Clarke and Ricky Bailey scored the goals that gave Manford Way a 2-0 win over Sandon Royals.
Premier Division
Frenford Senior suffered their first defeat of the season, going down 3-1 at home to Hutton. Duane Miller scored for Frenford, while James Whelpdale struck two and Luke Meadwright one for Hutton.
Rayleigh Town share the same number of points as the top two after losing 4-3 at home to M & B Club. Brad Walsh, Jack Shepherd, Lee Newton and Bleddar Abazi netted for M & B and James Blewitt and Michael Hart, with two, struck for Rayleigh.
Just up the road at White Ensign, the home team won their first match of the season when goals from Peter Jelly and Karl Lambourne gave them a 2-1 win over Kelvedon Hatch, whose scorer was Kevin Demetriou.
Hannakins Farm recorded their second victory when they hosted Canning Town and won 3-1. Canning went ahead through a Michael Smith goal but second-half efforts from Matt Mint and two-goal Ben Swift secured Hannakins the points.
The local derby at Fairlop ended in a 6-2 win for Westhamians against Manford Way. Tom Dosser scored both the Manford goals, a Danny Downer brace and singles by Shane Mason, Kian Siabi, Joe Harding and an own goal made up the hosts’ total.
Senior Division One
Southminster St Leonards top the table after goals by Taylor Lang, Luke Moore, Stuart Fergus and Taylor Smith gave them a 4-1 win at Lakeside, whose scorer was Dean McGuire.
Runwell Hospital had their first taste of defeat when goals by Chris Cottis and Chris Tuttlebee gave Sandon Royals a 2-1 home win. John Smethwick scored for the visitors.
There were ten goals in the match at Thurrock Reserves, with the home side finally running out 6-4 winners against Bishops Stortford Swifts. Stefan Beckford scored twice and John Nevin and George Sydes got one each for Swifts, but two goals from Ikechukwu Okonkwu and singles from John Osonowo, Andre Peters, Chris O’Donoghue and Terry Martin secured Thurrock their first win.
Jordan Cox and Joe Skeels shared the goals as Benfleet won 2-1 at home to Herongate Athletic, whose scorer was Dan Chambers.
Winning by the same margin were Aldborough Athletic at home to Old Chelmsfordians. Tommy Smith scored for the visitors, with Jon Sullivan and Joe Mcevoj netting for Athletic.
Wadham Lodge picked up their first point of the season following a 1-1 draw at home to Epping. Mark Foley scored for Wadham and Jake Clarke for Epping
Senior Division Two
Castle United suffered their first defeat in the derby match against Ryan FC with whom they share the ground. Bradley O’Donovan scored for the ‘hosts’, with Israel Toko and Avi Balendran on target for Ryan.
Jamie Richmond, George Hull, Dan Claxton each scored once and Karl Swanborough twice as Burnham Ramblers Reserves won 6-2 at home to Leytonstone United, whose scorers were Peter Cornwell and David Abioye.
Matthew Crouch netted for Forest Glade at Springfield but two goals by Steve Wareham and Adam Vyse and Matt Chorley singles secured the hosts a 4-1 win.
John Salter, Mark McHugh and Mark Hampshire scored the goals that gave Old Southendian a 3-0 win at home to Leigh Ramblers, while at Sungate goals from Reiss Desouza and Ade Onileyam secured the home side a 2-0 victory over Upminster.
Naz Kargi and Nader Benzid scored the goals that gave Roydon a 2-1 win at Broomfield, whose scorer was Dean Murray.
Senior Division Three
Newham United maintained their 100 per cent record with a 4-0 victory at Writtle. Terry Griffin, Lee Springer, Scott Walker and Shomari Barnwell were on target.
Old Barkabbeyans also won away when goals from Paul Luxton and Dean Shirley gave them a 2-0 victory at Ramsden.
Lee Smith scored two and Dan Sinfield and Dave Limber one each as Debden Sports won 4-0 at home to Chingford Athletic.
Catholic United travelled up the A127 to Basildon Town where goals by Tom Wolfe and Richard Robinson saw them go down 2-1. Richard Buscombe hit the visitors’ reply.
Reserve Division One
Frenford Senior top the table after travelling to Hutton where goals by Damon O’Neil, Darrell Wiffen and Paul Deller sealed a 3-0 victory.
Also winning away were Rayleigh Town after goals from Ryan Wyatt and Harley Kee gave them a 2-1 triumph at M & B Club, whose scorer was Ryan Bowman.
A solitary Chris Preston goal was enough for Canning Town to win 1-0 at Epping and at Upminster two efforts from Rob Finnegan and a Ross Turner strike gave the hosts a 3-1 win over Aldborough Athletic, whose scorer was Tom Mooney.
Robbie McCarthy scored for Kelvedon Hatch at home to Westhamians in a match that finished 1-1. Simon Haley netted the equaliser
Reserve Division Two
Lee Okan scored two and Lee Benjamin and Robert Small one each as Castle United won 4-1 at Herongate Athletic, whose goal came from Michael Shergold.
James Driver, Dean Saunders, Ricky Gill, Craig Victory, Andy Grace and Mick Hine shared the goals as Runwell Hospital won 6-2 at home to Galleywood for whom Tom Lakin and Luke Fuller netted.
Springfield went 1-0 up through Dan Lister before two goals from Nathan Ruggles and one each by Chris Scott and Kane Courtier made the half-time score 4-1 to hosts Southminster St Leonards. Second-half goals by Dean Aneke for Springfield and Ruggles, securing his hat-trick, made the final score 5-2.
Glen Longman and Luke Fuller scored the goals as Basildon Town won 2-1 at Old Chelmsfordians, whose scorer was Stuart Gleed.
Reserve Division Three
Matt Norton and Ian Boxall both scored two and Ben Picking and Peter Row one each to give Leytonstone United a 6-2 win at home to Lakeside, who had Ryan Walton and Matt Allix on target.
An Alex Smith hat-trick and goals from Ross Boadle and Dave Ingram saw Stambridge United beat visitors Burnham Ramblers A 5-2. Mark Goodson scored both the visitors’ goals.
Catholic United travelled to Newham United where two goals by Steve Hunt, a Billy Hutchinson strike and an own goal saw the visitors win 4-2. Michael Connelly and Dave Lumedo responded for Newham.
Richard Wallis scored for Toby at Shenfield AFC but two goals from Jamie Dobbs and one by Adam Dobbs saw the hosts take the points from a 3-1 win.
Dave Manley scored both the Old Southendian goals to give them a point from a 2-2 draw at Old Barkabbeyans, for whom John Cruz and Michael Stapleton netted, and at Chingford Athletic the final score was also 2-2 after goals from Joe Middleweek and Ashton Brooks for the hosts and Josh Crowe and Charlie Bawden for Writtle
