Dagenham & Redbridge’s fight for survival was dented as the Daggers fell to a 4-0 defeat against League Two leaders Swindon Town.
It was always going to be a difficult task for John Still’s side to take anything from the match and they fell behind just after the 20 minute mark.
Billy Bodin was on hand to slide home and finish a good cross from Paul Benson.
Dagenham’s hopes of a comeback suffered a further blow when Josh Scott was shown a straight red card for a bad challenge on Oliver Risser.
The Daggers held on to the break but in the second period Swindon took full advantage of their extra man.
Former Barnet defender Joe Devera headed home from corner before Paolo Di Canio’s side made it 3-0 thanks to a good finish from Luke Rooney.
With 15 minutes remaining Benson rounded off the scoring as he coolly slotted in with a low drive into the corner.
Dagenham failed to have a shot on target throughout the match but Still will be hoping his side’s fortunes change when they take on Wimbledon on Saturday.
