It was a busy week of league action for Aldersbrook Bowls Club and their performances yielded two victories and a defeat.
A trip to Woodford was first up for the club and Brian Gediking’s team of John Plunkett, Tony Hall and Alan Stock got Aldersbrook off to a winning starting with a 24-17 victory over Roy Barkers rink.
Despite Joe Staggs rink of John Lapping, Martin Gallacher and Bill Wiseman going down 21-17, Aldersbrook had done enough to secure and overall victory.
A home match in the Cribbs triples league against Barking followed. Chris Newman’s rink of Plunkett and Staggs were victorious 17-14 and the team of Jerry Quy, Hall and Steve Plastow won 20-19, while Eddie Townsend’s rink of Brian Gediking and Martin Plumb lost 16-12.
It was a close fought contest but Aldersbrook had done just enough to complete their second victory of the week.
The club’s defeat came at the hands of Barley in the Ilford and District league.
Newman’s team of Plunkett, Hall and Gediking were downed 22-12 while Eddie Townsend’s rink of Martin Plumb, Alfie Cooke and Plastow suffered the same fate and were beaten 19-12.
However, Staggs’ side of John Lapping, Annett O’Donnell and Stock claimed a 18-16 victory. But it wasn’t enough and Barley won overall by 57 shots to 42.
