Orient boss Russell Slade spoke of his delight after securing the services of Port Vale midfielder Anthony Griffith.
The 25-year-old agreed to join the O’s last weekend on a two-year deal with the option for a further year, becoming Slade’s second signing of the summer following the capture of Bristol Rovers defender Gary Sawyer.
Griffith turned down the offer of a new deal with Vale and Orient managed to beat off the competition to secure his signature.
The Montserrat international told of his keenness to work with Slade and the manager returned the compliment, believing the midfielder to be a similar type of player to former E10 skipper Stephen Dawson.
Slade enthused: “Anthony is one of those that is really ambitious. He wants to move forward and he wants to get better.
“He is in a similar mould to Dawson in that he has got great energy and loves to win the ball back for the team.”
