It has been a busy week for Woodford Green A.C. with Essex Ladies as many of the club’s athletes were in action across Europe. At the Golden Spike meeting in Ostrava, Tiffany Porter confirmed her current form as one of the best in the world, winning over 100m hurdles in 12.65.

Beijing finalist in the same event, Sarah Claxton, continued to improve as she took first at Bonneuil France with a season's best of 13.25.

Shana Cox placed eighth in the 400m with 52.26, whilst at Hengelo, Netherlands, Joice Maduaka finished sixth over 200m with 23.44.

In Oslo, Richard Alleyne showed good form, posting his best time in the 110m hurdles of 13.70. While Jon Cook was in action in Oordegem, Belgium, securing second over 800m in 1.49.01.

Meanwhile, Dan Awde impressed in the decathlon at the Arona combined events meeting in Spain.

He improved his personal best from 7,889 to 8,102 points, comfortably exceeding the Olympic Games B standard of 7950.

The 23-year-old Beijing Olympian, whose progression since those Games has been held back by a knee injury, scored a solid set of marks including personal bests in the long jump with 7.47m and shot with 13.67m.

Awde’s score surpasses David Bigham's club record, and moves him to fourth on the UK all-time lists.

At the same meeting Gemma Weetman improved her personal best in the heptathlon with her total of 5427 points.

Weetman’s results were 14.69 100m hurdles. 1.62 in the high jump. A personal best 12.34 in the shot putt, a time of 25.91 in the 200m. Distances of 5.87 and 36.22 in the long jump and triple jump respectively, and a time of 2.15.14 in the 800m.
