London Borough of Waltham Forest Swimming Club swimmers produced several national best times at the British Gas London Region 2012 age group championships.
In the 100m backstroke, 12-year-old Holly Taylor smashed her personal best national time by two seconds and firmly secured her place at the nationals in Sheffield in July.
Esteban Marmolejo achieved national times in the 200m backstroke, 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle. He also collected second place for top London boy in the 12-year-old age group.
This added to an already phenomenal year in which Marmolejo has achieved a total of six national times and was also awarded top boy in the Essex League championship earlier this year.
Amrita Robertson will also be going to the nationals in July after coming home second in the London girl's 13-year-old age group.
It was also a good meet for one of the squad’s youngest swimmers, Drew Clark, who achieved second place for the top boy in the 10-year-old age category. Clark also picked up the prestigious Len Badcock silver trophy for having the best individual swim.
There was an eighth place finish for Daniel Keir, in the ten-year-old boy’s age group, while Phoebe Griffiths, ended in the same position in the 11-year-old girl’s category.
Jeremy Nockells secured a bronze medal in the 200m breaststroke final and Isabelle Andrews, Jodie Hull and Emanuel Joseph all achieved personal bests.
