Bancroft’s School’s year eight boy’s cricket team lifted the Under-13 Essex Cricket Cup after an eight-wicket victory over Southend Boys High School.
Bancroft’s made an excellent start to the contest as opening bowlers Haaris Sohoye and Tom Oliver claimed five wickets for just 24 runs.
Captain Angad Nijjar then introduced himself and Jonny Bluff to the attack as they looked to increase the pressure on Southend.
The spinners made quick work of the batsman as wickets continued to tumble and Southend were dismissed for 34.
With a low score to chase, Bancroft’s would have been confident of taking victory.
However, their reply got off to a shaky start after Southend took two quick wickets for six runs.
Bancroft’s batsmen regained their composure and Will Hopkins and Murali Satchithananda steadied the innings.
The duo remained for the full ten overs and saw their side to victory.
