Bobby Keeble became the joint youngest winner of the Essex Amateur Championship after his victory at Canons Brook Golf Club.
The 16-year-old North Weald prodigy competed against 83 of the best golfers in the county with handicaps of four or better.
Keeble set the pace after a first round of four-under-par. The Abridge Golf Club member also impressed in the second round when his score of 71 left him leading the field with a six-under-par total of 140.
An overnight deluge of rain delayed the start of the final day but when it finally got underway Owen Pearl surged to within a shot of Keeble.
Both reached the par five in three shots. Keeble putted first and left his attempt five feet short which gave Pearl a putt to earn a play-off. But his effort missed and Keeble sank his putt to win the championship with a three-under-par total of 216.
The teenager will now represent Essex in the English Champion of Champions tournament later in the year.
Keeble also partnered Louis Lazarus from Abridge to victory in the Esplen Trophy which is the Essex club championship.
The golfer, who plays off plus two, won the Under-21 title last year and narrowly missed out on this year's Open after finishing tied tenth at West Lancs' final qualifying event.
