Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson returned to Davenant Foundation School to help celebrate the achievements of pupils who take part in extracurricular sport.
Jenkinson, a former student at the school, was in attendance at the annual key stage three sports award evening which saw every team and a representative discuss their season.
A total of 40 awards were handed out including individual accolades such as Player’s Player and a Manager’s Player of the year.
A special presentation was made from the PE department to Matthew Robinson-Jayes, the school’s star Boccia player.
Robinson-Jayes has coached rugby and football while studying for his GCSE’s and was handed the PE Department lifetime achievement award.
The award recognises the pupil who has been a role model to others at Davenant and also helped support the PE department.
The ceremony culminated with the Sports Personality of the Year honour going to year nine pupil Aran Hayday.
This award goes to the student who has consistently demonstrated the seven Olympic and Paralympic values of respect, excellence, friendship, determination, courage, inspiration and equality.
