With the Olympic Games now imminent, the selected athletes from Woodford Green AC with Essex Ladies will be putting the final touches to their preparation.
Five of the club’s members will be in action at London 2012 and all will be hoping for success in the capital.
Dan Awde, who finished 21st at the 2008 Olympics decathlon, will look to improve that position and is currently placed 21st in the world rankings.
Reigning Commonwealth Games triple jump champion Tosin Oke will be competing for Nigeria, while Yucef Abdi will go for Australia in the 3000m steeplechase Team GB athletes Tiffany Porter and Shana Cox will be hoping for a strong performance in the 100m hurdles and 400m respectively.
Away from the Olympics preparation, Woodford Green athletes impressed at the BMC Solihul Grand Prix.
Racing in the women’s A 880, Tara Bird secured a third place finish in a new personal best time of 2.02.72.
In the men's 800m races, under-20 athlete Matt McLaughlin went in the B race and crossed the line in 1.51.69 for sixth.
Tom Phillips was runner-up in the H race with a new PB of 1.52.20, while over 1,500m Alex Cornwell placed tenth in the B race in a time of 3.47.40.
Elsewhere, Sam Watts won over 200m at the Amsterdam Open in a quick 20.93 while in the 400m, Graham Hedman finished second with 46.74.
Joseph Dewa, competing for England in the Schools International fixture at Ashford, managed only one valid attempt in the long jump, but it was enough to bring victory with 6.78m.
Paralympian middle distance runner Tim Prendergast was in action in Ninove, Belgium, and set a season's best Prendergast, who will represent New Zealand at London 2012 is currently ranked second in the world at T13 category.
