There was a strong showing from East London Runners at the Newman Hilly five mile race, as nearly quarter of the field was made up of the club’s members.
A total of 200 competitors were in action at the event, with 45 coming from the East London competition.
The highlight finishes for the club included a fifth place for Thomas Grimes with a time of 29.09 while Ciaran Canavan (29.31) was just behind in sixth.
Mark Boulton (29.56) and Patrick Brown (30.16) claimed eighth and ninth respectively and Manjit Bedi (31.06) did enough to secure 14th.
Andrew Baxter was next home as he stopped the clock in 33.00 for 28th while William Pearce (33.33) took 33rd position.
Further down the field, Ava Lee finished in 36.03 which secured first place in the female vet 35 category and an overall position of 54th.
Elsewhere, George Georgiou tackled the Gunpowder Park park run on Saturday and performed well to returned with 11th place and a time of 23.25. A collection of runners made the weekly visit to Valentines Park for the 5k park run. Leading the club home was Mark Wyatt with a time of 19.24 and an overall final position of sixth.
Derek Wright was next across the line for East London, he stopped the clock on 22.08 to record a 21st place finish.
Katherine Harris achieved her first sub-23 minute time to set a new personal best at the distance of 22.59 – enough 30th.
David Wyatt (24.55) took 42nd overall while Mary O’Brien and Tara Syed also completed the course.
