Chingford’s Dan Fogg progressed through to the final of the 1500m freestyle this morning after finishing as the fifth fastest in the heats.
The former Waltham Forest Gators swimmer posted a time of 14.56.12, finishing second in his heat to Italian Gregorio Paltrinieri.
Fogg won’t be joined by compatriot Dave Davies however, after his time of 15.14.77 saw him miss out on a place in tomorrow’s final, finishing 16th fastest.
Fogg’s time was marginally slower than what he managed in qualifying but he stressed he was pleased with his efforts in the Aquatic Centre this morning.
The 24-year-old explained: “It is less than a second off my best and to do that and be that close in the morning is really good.
“I feel in good shape and the preparation has gone well. The crowd really helped a lot during that race. They were so loud while I was swimming which really helped me down the last 50m especially when it was really hurting.”
