Waltham Abbey suffered their fourth defeat of the season so far as they lost 3-0 way at Thamesmead in the Ryman North Division.
Abbey had a chance to take the lead early on but striker James Peagram shot wide.
Thamesmead took the lead in the 6th min when Abbey failed to deal with a corner and Rob Carter was on hand to forced the ball over the line.
Abbey looked to test the Thamesmead goalkeeper from distance but just before the quarter-hour they were two down.
A long ball was allowed to reach Thamesmead’s Enoch Adjeiwho who duly cut inside to shoot home.
Loren Maxwell and Jack Daveney both had shots for Abbey but were unable to find the net and Mead took a 2-0 advantage into the break.
David Hogan in the Mead goal was called into action early in the second half, blocking a shot then tipping a fierce drive onto his bar to keep his clean sheet in tact.
As the game wore on though it was the hosts who looked the more likely as Tom Nyama, and Rikki Cable all had chances to add to the score line.
Abbey defended bravely and it took until the 92nd minute for Mead to wrap up the win as Carter notched his second of the night.
The defeat leaves Abbey 13th in the league as they next take on Needham Market away on Saturday.
Waltham Forest were not in action at the weekend on the pitch but they have been busy off it, adding two new players to their squad.
Defender Antone Douglas, has rejoined Forest after moving clubs in the summer to sample football in the Conference South Division. Douglas first signed for the club before the 2010/2011 season.
And promising young goalkeeper Dave Wooton has also joined the Forest ranks. Wooton, 18, was previously at West Ham’s academy.
Waltham Forest have been drawn at home in the third round of the Essex Senior Cup to Essex Senior League side, Bowers & Pitsea and last night they were set to take on Heybridge Swifts at home in the league.
Redbridge’s home game against Harlow Town last Saturday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The Academy team were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup last week after they lost 3-2 to Canvey Island.
