Waltham Forest’s men’s hockey team conceded two second-half goals to lose 3-2 to Long Sutton on Saturday.
Despite Sutton’s high-pressing style, Forest started well and kept possession of the ball for long periods.
But it was the visitors who found the net first with a well-worked goal from a long corner on the left hand side.
With 10 minutes left of the first half, Forest made the game even when Chris Drewe converted after Olly Eaton's shot was parried by the goalkeeper.
And two minutes later Forest took the lead after Nico Kurt drag-flicked in from a short corner to make it 2-1 at the break.
Sutton started the second half brightly and drew level after Al Jenkins could only parry a shot into his own goal and soon after the visitors went ahead with a shot from the top of the D.
Led by captain Philip Peacock, Forest fought bravely in the final stages but were unable to find the equaliser they deserved.
