The Lee Valley Lions suffered their worst defeat of the season and remain at the foot of the National Ice Hockey League table after a 15-4 reverse against Slough Jets.
The fast skating Jets side, led by Zoran Kozic who was involved in 12 of the Jets goals, tore into Lee Valley and were on the scoreboard after just 19 seconds.
Although the Lions' Richard Hodge hit the bar shortly after Slough's opener, the Jets added two more before a pass from Michael Crosse found Hodge skating in alone to open the Lions' account.
The Jets led 4-1 by the end of the first period and 9-3 after two, with the Lions goals coming from Jordan Jones, his first for the club, and Scott Beeson. Both goals were set up by man-of-the-match Joe Berry.
Beeson added his second in the final period but the Lions, who were already without captain James Hatfull, lost James Gosling to a ten minute misconduct penalty and then Jack Ball to a groin injury, to finish the game woefully short in defence.
Slough took full advantage, scoring six more to cement the victory.
The convincing defeat came on the back of a 5-3 home loss to Peterborough Islanders.
After Islanders took an early lead, Lions' Richard Hodge and Adam Peach pulled the hosts back on level terms.
Two quick goals saw Peterborough go 4-2 ahead and despite a Phil Carson shot giving Lions hope late on, Islanders scored a fifth to take the points.
Lions are still looking to fill their one 'import' player allocation after Romanas Fedotovas left for Romford Fury at the start of the season.
Back up net-minder Steve Grout has left the club to join the Essex team after Aaron Mallet’s fine form meant limited playing time for Grout.
The Lions next face Invicta at the Lee Valley Ice Centre this Saturday at 5.15pm.
