Three gruelling weeks of competition saw Bancroft’s Prep Girls emerge victorious in the annual Redbridge Cross Country League.
After two promising events the Under 11-team, with four out of the six from the Under-10 or Under-9 age group, went into the final meet at Claybury Park last week placed third overall.
But the girls saved their best till last as Eleanor Channer (second), Claudia Joarder (fourth), Harriet Wood (eighth) and Alice Abbott, Nicole Nwalema and Sara El-Khamlichi all finished in the top 20.
That result was enough to see the girls finish as champions, beating off competition from 15 other schools in the Borough of Redbridge.
