Lee Cook has admitted he would be keen to remain with Leyton Orient beyond the end of his contract in January.

The former Queens Park Rangers and Watford winger signed a six-month deal with the O’s during the summer but will be out of contract at the start of next year.

But Cook has enjoyed his time with the League One club and is open to the prospect of remaining with Russell Slade’s side for the rest of the season.

Asked about the possibility of staying with Orient, Cook said: “If I can do that here then great because it’s a great club and I’m really enjoying it.

“I think we can be in a good position by Christmas because we’ve got a lot of games. If we can keep this form going then we can be pushing for the play-offs. That’s where we want to be at the top end of this division, trying to get into the Championship.

“My contract’s until January 24 I believe. At the minute there is a congestion of games and I’m just getting my head down and playing my football and helping the team as much as I can. I’ll speak to the gaffer probably after Christmas.”
