Leyton Orient's incredible form continued as they won their eighth consecutive match after a 2-0 victory at Bury this afternoon.

The O's struck the crucial blow in the first half when Kevin Lisbie pounced to fire home and the striker sealed the three points with his eighth of the season after the break.

Orient's win kept their exceptional run going under Russell Slade and pushed them closer to the League One play-off zone approaching the halfway mark in the season.

The O's made five changes from the side which won at Northampton in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Ryan Allsop and Ben Chorley returned in place of Jamie Jones and Scott Cuthbert.

Midfielders Lee Cook and Martin Rowlands were restored to the team in place of Anthony Griffith and Leon McSweeney. Lisbie also returned, in place of Ryan Brunt, to continue his prolific strike partnership with David Mooney.

Rowlands had the first shot of the game but his effort from outside the area drifted well wide of Trevor Carson's goal.

The hosts came mightily close to opening the scoring when Zac Thompson fired in a powerful effort but Mathieu Baudry superbly kept out the effort by blocking it with his chest on the line.

Orient opened the scoring after 31 minutes with their first effort on target. Mooney picked up  the ball and laid it off to Lisbie who kept his composure to fire a low shot past Carson.

The O's created another opportunity when the ball fell to Gary Sawyer in the area but he lifted his strike over the crossbar.

The Shakers fans were starting to get frustrated as the match edged towards the break with Bury finding it increasingly hard to break the O's down.

The visitors should have doubled their lead at the start of the second half when Dean Cox fed Lisbie but the former Charlton striker's effort was saved by Carson.

But Bury almost grabbed an equaliser from Andy Bishop's header which was brilliantly saved by Ryan Allsop.

The hosts kept up the pressure but wasted a decent opportunity when Efe Sodje lashed an effort over the bar.

Orient again punished Bury as they grabbed a second goal when Lisbie forced the ball in from Lee Cook's corner.

Bury were still pressing for a way back into the match and Allsop was forced to parry another Bishop header.

Lisbie was taken off with almost half an hour remaining after another highly impressive contribution as Michael Symes replaced him.

Symes did not last long as he picked up an injury and was taken off for Jimmy Smith with ten minutes remaining.

Orient did not have many scares late on in the game and the 176 Orient fans were in excellent voice as they celebrated their best run of form for 51 years.
