Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade admitted his team found top gear in the second half of their comprehensive 4-0 win at Tranmere Rovers.

The O's led 1-0 at the break, through Kevin Lisbie, but three second-half goals overwhelmed ten-man Tranmere at Prenton Park.

Orient's victory keeps them top of the league and unbeaten with ten wins from their opening 12 League One games.

Slade said: "Particularly in the second half I think we went up into our top gear. I think we were much more like ourselves in that second period.

"Obviously we had got a nice advantage at half-time with a well taken goal by Lis and we probably could have had a couple more. I think the pleasing thing was we continued to create chances all afternoon."

Slade added: "That's what I was pleased with. The creation was there and even in what I didn't think was a perfect first half for us, we still created three opportunities.

"One from Matty Baudry where he hit the bar, Moses Odubajo went through and put it narrowly past the post and then of course there were a few opportunities in the second period as well. That was pleasing from that point of view.

"It's never easy for the home team when they go down to ten men and they're 2-0 down so they're chasing the game. It was very difficult for them."
