Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade believes his side have overcome a "very big hurdle" after they won 3-1 at promotion rivals Peterborough United this afternoon.

The League One leaders managed to recover from conceding a first-half goal with a brace from David Mooney and a superb Dean Cox effort handing the O's their 12th win from 15 games.

When asked if it was their biggest win of the season, Slade replied: "I'm not quite sure I see it that way. It was obviously a very big test and very big hurdle that we had to overcome and I thought we did that extremely well.

"I think the pleasing part was that despite us going a goal down, possibly against the run of play I have to say, is that we stayed in control and continued to create chances all afternoon and managed to score three goals."

The O's boss insisted it was not difficult for his team to recover from the early setback, with Tommy Rowe netting, because of the mental strength of his players.

Slade said: "That's not a problem because we have good characters and that's what pleased me is that we stay in control and keep trying to do the right thing. We looked organised and looked a threat and stuck to our task."

Orient dominated the second half and could have easily scored more goals against third-placed Posh who are now six points behind the East Londoners.

Slade said: "That was the pleasing thing that we continued to create chances. We kind of only know how to play that way as well and sometimes it's frustrating because we're trying to open teams up and we're a little bit quick to give the ball away, but the plus side is we're always looking to play positive football.

"I think you saw today because there was some wonderful football and interplay between Kevin Lisbie, Moses Odubajo, Mooney, Cox and the midfield. Going forward I thought we were a continual threat."
