Leyton Orient have paid tribute to former head coach Justin Edinburgh on the one-year anniversary of his death.
On June 8 2019, Edinburgh died at the age of 49, five days after suffering a cardiac arrest and Orient announced "a period of mourning" before opening the stadium to allow supporters to leave tributes.
Today the club has released a statement, containing quotes from players and staff, remembering the head coach who guided them back to the Football League as champions in what would be his final game in charge at Brisbane Road.
It reads: "Justin Edinburgh won 45 and drew 21 of his 82 matches in charge of the club. Today marks the one-year anniversary of the tragic passing of our late Head Coach. A father, a husband, a friend and a legend. Not a day passes where you’re not in each and every single one of our thoughts. As always, the club would like to extend their love and support to the Edinburgh family, on what is sure to be a difficult day."
O's chairman Nigel Travis paid his respects to both Edinburgh and the legacy he left behind at the club, saying: "The success that Justin brought to Leyton Orient was incredible, but more importantly the impact he had on us all as a winner and a wonderful, inspirational human being will be his legacy and will stay with us forever."
Jobi McAnuff played under Edinburgh at Orient and described him as a "hugely positive man", stating: “Football aside, Justin was a hugely positive man, loved his family. every day he came in he had that lust for life, a real zest about him, and a real willingness to enjoy himself."
