ORIENT boss Martin Ling saw his sides' play-off hopes suffer a major blow after they crashed to a third straight home defeat.
The O's have now been dealt a hat-trick of 1-0 home defeats as sub Luke Beckett's second half strike proved enough for Huddersfield to see off the sorry east Londoners.
The result at Brisbane Road saw Ling's men slip to 11th in the table and leave them four points off the all important sixth spot.
And the frustrated Orient manager admitted: "The performance wasn't good enough in terms of creating chance.
"We did try and change it after half hour, and went for a diamond formation because it wasn't working. But that did really change anything and the best side won on the day in the end.
"We went to sleep on the throw in that led to their goal and I've said to the players that we aren't doing the basics well enough at the moment.
"And with no goals in the last three games it is not hard to see why we've started to struggle.
"In terms of chances we are creating as a team is a worry, because there isn't enough of them at the moment.
"I've said to the players that I don't want this season to start to drift, but that is what is happening at the moment, but if people think that is going to happen then they will be proven wrong."
And the Orient boss believed he will have to make changes for the visit of his former club Swindon on Tuesday night.
"We keep talking bout back-to-back wins but that hasn't happened since September," stated Ling.
"I look at the bigger picture because I always look at five game slots. In the first five games of the season we took 13 points and since then our best has been eight points. And in the two sets of five games leading up to this match we've managed ten points in as many games, which is relegation form.
"In fact we've managed 16 points from the last 16, which is one a game which is nowhere near good enough when you need at least two per match to secure a promotion spot.
"We will be in tomorrow now and something will have to give in terms of the team for the Swindon game, because we've lacked creativity again."
Is this the end of Orient's promotion chances? Have your say below...
