SIMON Church is delighted to have got his first goal for Leyton Orient.

Orient's 1,000th player opened his account at Carlisle on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old hitman netted the third goal of the evening, as Orient swept aside their League One rivals to hoist themselves further away from the drop-zone.

The striker on loan from Championship side Reading had waited five games to find the net.

Afterwards, he revealed how pleased he was to break his duck.

"I'm over the moon." said Church. "Obviously, I'm really pleased with my goal. It's my first in five games, and it was getting me down that I hadn't scored. Now I've done it, hopefully there'll be more to come.

"It was all about the set-up by Jimmy Smith. He's absolutely done the left back, and when he's seen me and played the perfect ball across, I couldn't really miss."

There was also praise from the youngster for his team mates who rose to the occasion and allayed relegation worries with a resounding victory.

"It's a massive result for us" he said. The way we came here and the way we set out was to come for three points and nothing less."

"I think that showed through how well we played and the chances we made. For our second goal, we made 23 passes, everyone touched the ball and then we scored. It just shows how well everyone did.

"There were times in the game when we were under pressure, but we got over that and we kept the ball brilliantly once we got going. We created chances as well and could have had more really."

Church said the team must build upon the result.

"Morale is really high. But we've got to let this one go and focus on winning at Stockport on Saturday."
