Ten man Orient came back from the dead against Leeds this evening to grab a point against rivals who played with 12.
The beefed up police presence, the extra ambulances in the streets around the Matchroom Stadium, and the long line of fans queuing up to get inside: the biggest show in League One was in town.
Leeds Utd filled the east stand with their fans, a true twelfth man, and there was hardly a spare seat in the Orient stands either.
But the game itself did not take off until the second half when Sean Thornton struck a 65th minute free kick which Simon Church diverted with his head past Casper Ankergen in the Leeds goal to haul Orient back into a game that they had looked out of at two nil down.
His strike was the first time Ankergen had been challenged by Orient, who had looked far short of the winning side they have become of late.
It took a disaster to spark Geraint Williams' team into life and that was the dismissal of Jason Demetriou on the hour mark for handling Luciano Becchio's header on the line.
Robert Snodgrass converted the penalty to double his own, and Leeds account.
Earlier, on 19 minutes he had fired Leeds in front after play-maker Fabian Delph turned Charlie Daniels inside out down the left flank and played a pass behind the Orient back line, which Snodgrass latched onto and stroked his shot past Jamies Jones low into the far corner.
Orient had looked bereft of ideas and buried, but they produced what must rank as one of their best performances of this season: coming back from the dead a man down to score twice and salvage the evening.
Church's first goal capped a second half revival which had seen the previously dominant Leeds lose their stranglehold on the midfield.
Then, on 85 minutes Dean Morgan hussled for the ball close to the touch line and came away with possession. He played a simple square ball across the goal face which Simon Church tapped in from close range in front of the packed South Stand.
Apart from his flicked goal earlier, Church had beeen quiet all game alongside the ineffectual Wayne Gray and later Scott McGleish.
But he was in the right place at the right time, again.
