Geraint Williams says JJ Melligan must continue as he has begun the new season.
The O's manager spurred on his midfielder after watching him score one goal and set up another in Orient's 2-1 Carling Cup win over Colchester Utd, on Tuesday evening.
Afterwards, Williams said: "Sean (Thornton) was joking in the changing room about JJ and an international call up.
"I had a chat with him about keeping his feet on the ground because he's set himself some standards in these two games, and he has to keep living up to them, or he'll know about it".
Melligan was on target against Bristol Rovers, last weekend.
Then, he scored Orient's first goal of the new season in the O's 2-1 opening day win.
