Orient were stung so early in this London derby by the B's, but they came back to win as the B's went on to fatally sting themselves.

Orient produced one of their best passing displays so far this season in this battle.

But it was the B's managed by ex-O Andy Scott who scored the first goal.

Scott McGleish is at the heart of so much of the good stuff Orient make, and so he was again today.

First, it was Mr Reliable himself who missed a penalty on 31 minutes which would have put Orient level after Carl Cort headed the visitor's in front with just four minutes gone.

But then McGleish atoned for his miss minutes later, when he scored Orient's equaliser with a scissor kick into the corner which had about it shades of his goal against Newcastle.

The 35 year-old's goal was just desserts for Orient. They had played well after Brentford went ahead with just four minutes gone.

The O's were fast asleep at the back on four minutes when Brentford took the lead, after Ben Chorley had fouled Cleveland Taylor near the left touchline.

B's hitman Carl Cort did not need to use his height or bulk to win his header. He only had a get into position, wait undisturbed and then calmly guide the ball into the net when it arrived.

That lapse sparked Orient into life. The host's began to pass the ball with verve and intent. Andros Townsend, starting, was the main creative outlet. Ryan Jarvis, up front with Scott McGleish, held up the ball well.

He and Townsend combined well, as Brentford defender Danny Foster hoved upfield and left acres of space for the on-loan Spurs youngster to exploit.

His final ball did not always match his sharp skills or lightning pace. However, if you can sometimes opponents by simply running around them, and then break into the area to play lay off a short pass, laser-guided long crosses need not be such an essential skill.

A few more goals from Jarvis would not go amiss, but the ex-Norwich man was hustling thorn in the side of Brentford's back-line.

He won the penalty for McGleish when he scythed down in the heart of the area by Mark Phillips.

The second half saw Orient take up their momentum as they started the stronger of the two sides.

Stephen Purches made his return in a Phantom of the Opera mask as a half time replacement for Andrew Cave-Brown.

Morris was solid in goal, as he showed it on 62 minutes when he dived across his goal to catch Taylor's fierce half volley with both hands. Orient's reserve keeper had an impressive game all round. Later he saved well when Kevin O'Connor's free kick came under Orient's wall.

Townsend was the creator of Orient's winning goal on 64 minutes. Bu5 he could not have predicted the manner of it, as the B's stung themselves.

He skated past the marker on the right wing and put in an inviting cross. Danny Foster for Brentford obliged. The ex-Daggers man headed it into his own net from two yards yards out.

The game descended into an ugly high ball contest as full time approached. Brentford were desperate to get near Orient's goal while the O's were just as keen to protect their lead.

That achieved, Orient can now look down the table from 15th place with some more space between them and the drop zone.
