ANDROS Townsend said boss Geraint Williams was right to rest him, after he terrorised Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.
Spurs loanee Townsend shone in Orient’s 2-1 must-win victory against Rovers at Brisbane Road.
The 18 year-old winger had been left out of the side which was dumped out of the FA Cup by Rovers, last Tuesday.
And he had got just seven minutes at Hartlepool the previous weekend.
But he returned with a bang in a display he called his best in an Orient shirt.
“I think I needed the rest for the Hartlepool game, so I could come back stronger" said Townsend.
"It was one of my best (performances) as we needed to get the win, after we lost on Tuesday against the same team.
“I was energetic and made things happen, and hopefully there will be more of that. The gaffer was right.”
