ORIENT boss Geraint Williams was being upbeat after Tuesday’s last-minute defeat to Leeds, but the pain of that heart-break result was plain.
He had watched his side outplay the League One table-toppers all game, only for Max Gradel to hammer home a 89th minute winner.
“We're going to get a lot of plaudits, but no points from this” he reflected. “It was a good performance. Yes, we take a lot of positives from it, and we move on.”
The visitors at Elland Road created a host of chances against a sub-par Leeds team.
“We were disappointed not to come off in front after the first half” Williams “The players were magnificent. Every player went out and did his job. But when you come to Leeds and you create opportunities, you have to take them and we didn't.”
He was adamant his decision to take the game to Leeds was the right choice. It certainly delivered top-notch entertainment to almost 20,000 fans on a rainy Tuesday night.
Williams said: “We looked reasonably comfortable at the back. We came there to entertain and we did entertain. The idea was to be nice and solid and then to play.”
