IT WAS really frustrating that the Yeovil game was postponed on Saturday because all the boys felt ready for that game.
The big freeze that has set in has meant we’ve been training indoors this week. It’s a bit warmer in there, but not much!
It looks as if the Oldham game this week might go the same way as the Yeovil match, but hopefully we will be able to play.
We don’t want a backlog of games to start piling up and we all want to get back out there and play.
We didn’t really get any time off over Christmas because we had to train and then go down to Brighton for that match on Boxing Day, but everyone had a great time over the festive period and a lot of us managed to spend some time with our families.
There have been quite a few new year’s resolutions. The gaffer has told us that it’s a new year so it’s a new start for us all. There are plenty of new challenges for us, and it would be nice to kick off with a win against Oldham.
They beat us at Brisbane Road in our first home game of the season so there is a sense of a bit of revenge for that result.
We’re all really looking forward to it. It’s always a tough game against Oldham. We seem to take it in turns to get the better of each other. They pipped us last time but we want to be the ones to do the pipping this time around.
The objective has to be to pick up as many points as we can and try and start climbing this league table during the second half of the season.
All the lads are keen to do that and if we can just put that extra five per cent in to training we can do just that. That’s not to say that we don’t give everything in training every day! But we need to find that extra little bit from somewhere.
Personally, I’m also looking to work even harder on the training ground.
Off the pitch, my resolution is to try and spend as much time with the family as possible.
Obviously, Andros Townsend has gone back to Tottenham after spending three months here on loan.
He is a good little player and it would be nice for him to come back to us for the rest of the season. But his departure does give me the chance to try and play a bit more.
I’ve missed some games but I’m chomping at the bit more than most to get back on the field and playing.
We haven’t been getting the results we need and that needs to change.
