THERE is currently nobody interested in buying Leyton Orient FC from owner Barry Hearn.
That was the message from chief executive Matt Porter today, nearly a year after chairman Hearn made public his wish to sell the League One club.
“There are no plans at the moment” Porter said. “Nobody’s in discussion about acquiring the club and we’re not in discussion about moving anywhere.”
Porter also rubbished a recent story in The Sun newspaper which reported Orient were poised to leave Brisbane Road for Fairlop Waters, in Redbridge.
“Someone just made it up because they had two inches of space to fill, about half an hour before deadline” he told Guardian Series Sport.
“It’s not something we’ve looked at.”
