Boss Geraint Wiliams had to conduct a secret campaign to land new striker Jonathan Téhoué for Leyton Orient.
The Frenchman was coveted by Huddersfield Town last season until a contract dispute scuppered that deal.
So Williams set out to bring Téhoué in from the football wilderness, while alerting as few rival clubs as possible that the forward was available.
“We didn't tell anybody, but we had him in training with us since Christmas, but the transfer window meant we couldn't sign him” revealed Williams.
“It took time to get his European registration transferred over. So we tried to keep that as quiet as possible and keep him training with us.
Williams said the Parisian has settled in well at Brisbane Road, and has become a mentor for youngster, Cestor Mike.
He backed Téhoué to hit full fitness soon.
“We think he'll get better as he gets match practice.”
