SATURDAY was really disappointing for everyone connected with the club, because everyone was really looking forward to the start of the new season.
So for us to lose in the way we did against Macclesfield was a big let down.
I think we responded well at Cambridge on Tuesday, although we were a little frustrated that we were only able to draw the game.
We all know how important it is to get off to a good start in this League, so we will certainly be aiming to get our first win of the season at Cheltenham this weekend. We definitely owe them one as well for three defeats they inflicted on us last year.
The campaign is already firmly underway now and it seems a while since the pre-season. But just to keep you up to speed with what went on we had a couple of golf days, a poker afternoon and a cricket day as we didn't go away on tour this year.
So in between all the hard work and I have to say that it was the hardest pre-season I've ever done, we did have a little bit of fun.
I won't say too much about the golf because the boys get upset because I won, but we did have a laugh with the cards and the cricket.
We were all fairly rubbish at the cricket with Jabo certainly proving he is no Viv Richards. But the worse player award has to go to our press officer Matt Porter who was playing for a team put together by the chairman.
There was no real surprises with the poker as hot favourite Wayne Purser won and will now take the TV appearance I had on Sky TV last year which is set up by Barry on the Poker Million Programme.
It was all good fun though and it helped all the new lads settle in really well and hopefully that will now bode well for the season.
