Luke Ashworth will miss the first game of next season after his spectacular diving save, last weekend.
Centre-back Ashworth got red carded just as the season was about to finish.
He stopped Kem Izzet’s stoppage-time shot with the sort of save which suggests HE is the man to replace Glenn Morris in goal.
The position of number-two keeper at Brisbane Road is up for grabs following Morris's exit, this week.
But Ashworth’s desperate lunge at Colchester Utd has simply earned him a one game ban.
However, boss Russell Slade did give his hari-kari-ing defender some praise.
“It was a remarkable save, the best I've seen by a defender, but of course he had to go” said Slade.
“I was disappointed with the build-up to the save".
