Is Barry Hearn about to loosen his tight financial regime at Orient and hand boss Russell Slade with a bumper transfer war-chest?
The chairman has stated the club is evaluating what is necessary to make the next campaign one to remember for fans.
“Every aspect of our footballing set up is being assessed with a view to making us a better, stronger team next season” said Hearn.
Cold, hard cash is so often key to success in football, and Hearn has been loath to speculate in order to accumulate it, branding the game “an impossible business” in Guardian Series Sport.
But this summer is set to be busy at Orient because there are currently just seven players under contract there.
And Slade has shown that there is more than one to get glory.
He came within 90 minutes of promotion to the Championship with unfancied Yeovil, in 2007.
Hearn said he is impressed with what Slade has brought to Orient.
“Russ has injected a great deal of enthusiasm and energy in to the club over the last month and that's been great to see” he told club sources.
Will Hearn turn sugar-daddy this summer? Tell us what you think.
