RYAN JARVIS says he has had to fight for his future at Leyton Orient.
The 23 year-old forward has just signed a new one-year contract to stay at Brisbane Road.
Jarvis bounced back last season from a nightmare first full campaign at Orient, which ended goalless for him.
But he turned things around, with eight goals in the last campaign plus some hard-working shifts in midfield, to cement the new deal.
“Last season was a massive improvement for me” said Jarvis.
“I knew that if there was none, then I would not be at the club” he told Guardian Series Sport.
“That was important. I feel like I’m at the right club and playing for the right boss.
“Next season, I want another improvement”.
Now Jarvis faces another fight, to play up front with five other strikers vying for the position.
“We have some good strikers so it will be very competitive for us”
“But that can only be a good thing for the club, as we all want to impress the boss.
“I won’t set a goal target as I’m not an out and out striker” he said.
“I played mifield quite a bit, and I’m comfortable playing there if that’s where I’m needed”.
Striker Jarvis ranks his strike against Wycombe Wanderers in early May as his highlight in front of goal.
“It set us on the way to League One safety” he explained.
“It was pure relief for the fans and the players when I scored that goal, and that was brilliant”.
