Today I am full of hope because ahead of us is the season of great success for Leyton Orient FC.
Nobody can refute that because a ball has not yet been kicked in League One.
All teams are even right now. AFC Bournemouth are level with Southampton. Charlton Athletic are as good as Orient. For now, that is.
I cannot wait to turn on Sky Sports and watch Orient crush the Addicks, soon.
Yes, I am enjoying this lull before the Football League kicks off in four week’s time.
It is a time when the players are waiting in the slips and the fans are plotting courses to the glittering prizes.
Is this idiotic optimism? Well no, it is not.
What I know is that in 2007 Russell Slade led Yeovil Town to the cusp of the Championship.
The only support that team had came from the elastic which held the players’ socks up.
Town was an unfancied club, and so is Orient. Have you seen our odds?
So critics can come with evidence and say ‘you’re talking rubbish, mate.’ What does a critic know?
As we stand today, I look ahead at the impending campaign and I think we are going up.
Everything is up for grabs, and that is what is exciting.
