LEYTON Orient keeper Jamie Jones has revealed his optimism for the forthcoming season at Brisbane Road, despite also suggesting that the new-ball design will not help matters for the men between the posts.
Jones made the Orient number one jersey his own in a difficult previous campaign. However, the 21-year-old seems to share the current optimism surrounding Russell Slade’s side ahead of the O’s upcoming League One campaign.
“I’m very happy to be back, the lads are gelling well and the manager's put a good group of lads together. We’re just all happy to be back in training,” Jones told the club.
“As soon as the football starts, the running is basically over. We just need to get our heads down for the Yeovil game with a few nice games together over pre-season and we’ll take it from there.”
“I want to get a good full season under my belt and then take it from there and push on. I think this season will be a good one for Leyton Orient.”
Despite the former Everton keeper’s clear confidence in the East Londoners' chances, he did reveal that Mitre’s new ball design isn’t turning out to be particularly popular amongst the Orient shot stoppers.
“We’ve done a few training sessions with it (the new ball). Yesterday we had a shooting session and the ball is moving a hell of a lot compared to last season and it’s even moving more than the Premiership balls."
