ALEX Revell insists there is 'no chance' that any Leyton Orient striker is an automatic pick already.

The 27-year-old revealed that competition is fierce among the forwards for a starting spot at the sharp end of Orient’s attack.

O's Boss Russell Slade has six to pick from, including teenager George Porter.

Revell told Guardian Series Sport: “At this moment in time, we all want to be in the first 11 for that opening game at Yeovil.

“It will be a long campaign, and we want to be sure that by the end we’ve each had a good season.”

But one thing which is more certain for the ex-Wycombe Wanderers man are Orient’s prospects.

Revell made the daring prediction that the O’s can finish in the top six of League One.

“To be honest, with the players we’ve brought in, I want to be right up there,” he said.

“I think we have a really decent squad because the gaffer has brought in the right players, and it’s gelling well.”

Pre-season friendly matches later this week offer chances to impress, including Friday's clash at St Albans City.

But Revell was honest when he said that players just want to emerge unscathed, with some game-time racked up.

“Of course, you are looking for goals and for the result, but the thing is to play the way the gaffer wants, and not get injured."
