Jonathan Téhoué scored the sole goal in the first half of action today, if 'action' is the right word.
With League One kick-off only seven days away, O's players are loath to risk an injury at the Abbey stadium. This attitude has shown itself most clearly among the defenders.
Ben Tozer, Ben Chorley, Arron Brown, and Josh Millwood have let U's players run onto them and into the danger-zone on two occasions, when a simple challenge would deal with the problem.
But who can really blame them?
The game has a sedate feel to it, which Téhoué lifted on 28 minutes when he latched onto Ryan Jarvis' long ball and nudged his effort past on-rushing U's keeper Simon Brown.
The goal came from a break from Orient's area, after a corner which Harry Beautyman conceded after more casual defending.
Adam Marriot hit the base of the post on the stroke of half-time when Jamie Jones in goal had already gone down in anticipation of a different shot.
Earlier, there were tense moments when Téhoué stayed grounded after a challenge, But the Frenchman was up and about soon.
A typical pre-season encounter so far.
