So, more of the same old Orient this season?

Maybe not.

With Division One as tight as ever, just three wins in a row would have you moving up several places.

We are a few points away from the dreaded trap door but in the same vein just a couple of victories away from the top six.

Consistency is key and, had we either defended better in certain games or been more prolific at the other end of the pitch in others, we could easily be in the top ten.

Here is my half-term report.

Jones (A-) Goalkeeper Jamie continues to flourish and improve. Jonesy has easily established himself as the O's top stopper and will be a major asset when returning.

Butcher (B) Done well when stepping in between the sticks. The odd mistake but he is young and still learning and will help push Jonesy all the way in the second half of the season.

Omozusi (B) Elliott started slowly but has got better and better. Gaining experience and games was key and proving now to be a solid purchase.

Forbes (B) Terrell is a solid player who has doubled his goals tally for the last eleven years in one swoop. Had to fill Mkandawire's shoes which was never going to be easy but we could have got so much worse.

Chorley (A-) Ben made his first mistake this season after 60 minutes and has hardly put a foot wrong since. Great vice captain and now has added Colin Foster-type runs from the back to his game as well. Penalty taker and without wanting to jinx it is scoring 'em as well.

Brown (B-) Aaron has looked both unsteady and quite accomplished at the same time. Always going to be third choice but has done reasonably well when called upon.

Daniels (A-) Charlie's long-running contract saga at the start of the season is now a thing of the past and every fan knows why we all wanted him to re-sign. Would have been a great loss and CD improves every month. Link-up play with M'Poku can be devestating.

Spring (B) Matt touches the ball more times than anyone else and likes to play from the back. Number of games played has been a massive bonus, but has the tendancy to give it away sometimes. Has been another worthwhile purchase and can get better in the second half of the season.

Dawson (A) Where did Stephen come from? Surely the same place Superman did. His drive, energy, passion and overall footballing ability has been a massive bonus. Captain Fantastic is an apt name.

Chambers (B) You now know what you are going to get with Adam. He will run all day and more and will also be a massive bonus when he returns, just at the right time!

Smith(B) Stepped up to the plate as injuries took their toll. Jimmy obviously now wants to fight for his place and the competition he will create should be great for the team.

M'Poku (A) Tottenham might well want to cause a massive stir by moving in down the road, well please do us one favour letting Paul Jose stay until May. If he does, boy do we have a massive chance of climbing the league.

Cox (A-) Talk of transfer to a bigger club already. Hopefully not because Dean has played and will play a massive part in us continuing to improve. Has the odd bad game, but then usually puts in two or three good performances for every bad one.

McGleish (A-) How long can Scott keep going? Don’t you wish he was 26? Never has a cheer by Orient fans been so apt: ‘He's here, he's there, he's every...’ Well you know. Professional to the last and just keeps scoring.

Revell (A) What a buy Alex has been. Written off by quite a few but arrived here on the back of a scoring run for Wycombe and didn't stop there. Hold up play superb, can run channels, can head, scores, links up well, can pass, cross and also shows great passion. Just a shame he can't take a throw in otherwise he'd be the Lionel Messi of Division One.

Jarvis (C) Always tries his heart out but the loan spell probably tells you that maybe Ryan's time is up at the O's.

Téhoué (B+) Started to show what he is all about. Jonathan will add a great dimension to the O's attack in the second half of the year.

Boss Russell Slade (B+). Mr Slade continues to learn and improve. Great with the fans and shows passion for the job, unlike some O's managers down the years. Made some sound signings and now is looking to add in January. A bit of wheeling and dealing by him to bring in players like Dawson and Revell should see us start to hopefully fulfill Slade’s top ten promise.

We have the FA Cup to look forward to, plus the return of Chambers and Jones from injury.

The fact that current form is good perhaps Slade will finally start to deliver a side we can all be proud of and there is every reason to believe that we can make a challenge for at least the top half of the table in 2012 and beyond.

Now all we need to do as fans is get behind the team and display the sort of passion in the stands that Dawson, Revell & Co show on the pitch.
