HARRY Kane had a dream debut for Orient this afternoon as his goal helped fire the hosts to victory over Sheffield Wednesday at the Matchroom Stadium.
The 17 year-old youngster is highly-rated at Spurs and he lived up to that promise on his first outing in front of the home crowd
A shot fired high into the goal gave Owls stopper Nicky Weaver no chance on 57 minutes.
It was an impressive first home appearance by on-loan Kane, the latest in the production line of promising youngsters arriving from White Hart Lane.
But it was a great afternoon for all at Orient, who ran riot late on against the promotion-chasers from Yorkshire.
A spot kick from Ben Chorley, a header from hitman Alex Revell and then Paul Jose M’Poku's late free-kick consigned the Owls to defeat and left Os boss Russell Slade purring.
The three-point haul means there is a bit more distance to the dotted line.
But Kane could have had have bagged a hat-trick today.
One goal by him was ruled out for off-side during the first half, and he went close later as full time drew near.
Os favourite Scott McGleish was forced down onto the substitutes bench in this game by the youngster.
But the old warrior made an appearance when he replaced the loanee on 70 minutes.
Kane’s goal came soon after Ben Chorley had fired the hosts ahead at the Matchroom Stadium.
The centre-back scored again from the penalty spot after Gary Teale had handled the ball inside the box, on 50 minutes.
Chorley’s goal broke the deadlock after a hard-fought first half in which Wednesday threatened without getting past Os stopper Jamie Jones.
Orient capitalized and foraged ahead after the visitors were forced into making three substitutions early in the second half.
But Orient were the superior sid. Alex Revell deserved his 79th minute goal, when he finished with his head from Charlie Daniels' cross.
M’Poku’s dead ball blast from outside the box was the icing on the cake, with just six minutes to go.
Wednesday posed a danger only rarely during the second half after a gaffe by stopper Jamie Jones and left back Charlie Daniels nearly gifted the visitors a goal.
Daniels’ backpass to Jones ended in a muddle and the defender redeemed himself by getting in position and clearing the shot off the goal line.
Os maintain their strong home form and prepare to host MK Dons on Tuesday night.
