Russell Slade makes two changes for tonight’s Carling Cup clash at Roots Hall, with Michael Richardson getting his first start in an O’s shirt, while Jonathan Téhoué also comes in.
Newcastle loanee Richardson comes in for the injured Leon McSweeney, while Téhoué takes the place of Jamie Cureton who drops to the bench.
Slade names six subs for tonight, including young keeper Tom Lovelock and Terrell Forbes, who could be set for his first taste of action having missed the entire pre-season campaign following an operation on his digestive system.
Southend start with former Orient keeper Glenn Morris between the sticks, while Saturday’s goalscorer Bilel Mohsni is named amongst the substitutes.
