Orient welcome newly promoted Wycombe Wanderers to Brisbane Road tonight looking for their first points of the season.
Despite performing well in their first two league fixtures against Walsall and Tranmere, the O’s have failed to pick up a point thus far, being stung by spectacular strikes to lose 1-0 in both games.
The visitors meanwhile have picked up two impressive draws since their return to the third tier, claiming a point at home to Scunthorpe on the opening day before a Scott Rendell penalty gave them a share of the spoils at Colchester over the weekend.
In between their league fixtures, the Chairboys enjoyed a similar Carling Cup success to Russell Slade’s men, overcoming Colchester 5-4 on penalties after a dramatic 3-3 draw.
Former Wanderer Alex Revell will no doubt be looking for his first goal of the campaign against his old club.
Revell enjoyed a successful loan spell at Adams Park in the 2009/10 season but his goals were unable to prevent the Buckinghamshire side slipping into League Two – a fate that was sealed by their 2-0 defeat at Brisbane Road at the tail-end of the season.
Speaking after the Tranmere defeat, Slade said: “There is no time to sulk that’s for sure. We have another league game on Tuesday and we’re desperate to register some points on the board.
“We have an opportunity against Wycombe and let’s hope we’re geared up and we take it.”
Stephen Dawson added: “All of a sudden, Tuesday is a really big game because we need to get off the mark in the league. It’s going to be tough and in the last couple of results they haven’t done too badly.
“They’re going to be hard working and are probably going to come and do what Tranmere have done. We have to get used to that now and start moving the ball a lot quicker.
“I believe in the team and that we can get up and running on Tuesday.”
