Despite suffering penalty heartbreak last night in defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge, O’s boss Russell Slade was able to see the positives in his side’s performance.
Orient created chances throughout the match with a series of slick passing moves but it was the Daggers who took the lead through Sam Williams.
The hosts showed great character to fight back though and levelled the match through David Mooney in the dying minutes to force a penalty shoot-out.
Slade was pleased with what he saw of his side going forward however, and praised their attacking intent.
The O’s boss said: “I thought we created chances throughout the evening. I thought we were patchy at times but there were enough opportunities.
“There are never too many chances when the two of us play together. But I thought there was a wonderful chance for Jonathan Téhoué with a header from four or five yards.
“I thought there was a wonderful opportunity for Jimmy Smith to score and I thought we created a good deal of opportunities to at least get a couple of goals tonight but it wasn’t to be so that left it on a knife-edge and then Dagenham got the goal and we had to keep fighting.
“To be fair to the lads, credit to them, we got a late one to send it to the shoot-out.”
