Leyton Orient’s new shirt sponsors Samsung have today launched the third season of their ‘Win A Pro Contract’ competition.
The nationwide football talent search in association with the O’s and Swindon Town will see two professional contracts up for grabs.
Amateur players of all abilities are invited to enter with the top two each earning a one-year deal at either Brisbane Road or the County Ground.
Orient boss Russell Slade said: “I’m delighted the club is teaming up with Samsung for ‘Win A Pro Contract’ next season.
“Plenty of talented players don’t end up becoming professionals. This competition will give them an amazing opportunity to show what they’re really capable of.
“I’m looking forward to getting involved in the scouting process and will be on the lookout for a player with the skill, fitness and attitude to join my squad in January.”
Those entering will be put through their paces at regional trials and matches with club scouts and expert talent spotters FootballCV casting a watchful eye.
The top talent will be taken forward to matches at professional and semi-professional club grounds before the Samsung ‘Win A Pro Contract’ Final towards the end of the year.
A boot camp week at both clubs will follow before two winners will be selected by Slade and Robins boss Paolo Di Canio in January 2013.
Last year’s winner, Chris Smith, signed for Swindon in February and made his first team debut earlier this month.
He said: “I entered the competition last summer but never expected to win it. Luckily my first trial went well and from there I took it game-by-game.
“When Swindon manager Paolo Di Canio told me I’d won I just couldn’t believe it. I was in shock and didn’t know what to say.
“I’ve had the time of my life since joining Swindon. It really is a dream come true.
“I can’t recommend Samsung ‘Win A Pro Contract’ highly enough. The competition changed my life and I’m sure it will do the same for two more lads next season.”
Samsung Sponsorship Director Martin Howard said: “We’re delighted to welcome Leyton Orient as partners in ‘Win A Pro Contract’ 2012/13.”
He added: “This competition gives amateur players another chance to fulfil their dreams and I’m sure we will uncover even more talented footballers from across the UK next season.”
