Former Orient loanee Harry Kane was a second half substitute as England Under-19s snatched a late draw with Montenegro at Rochdale.
Noel Blake’s side had already beaten Slovenia two days previously but had to rely on a late Benik Afobe strike to claim a draw in their second fixture of the UEFA Under-19 Championship Elite Qualifying Round.
The Three Lions will now take on Switzerland at Preston in their bid to secure progression.
Montenegro looked impressive right from the off and they duly took the lead after 25 minutes when skipper Marko Vukcevic stole the ball before firing in beyond Sam Johnstone.
Kane’s introduction on the hour gave Blake’s side another option going forward and the Spurs youngster tried his luck from distance only to be denied for a corner.
England’s pressure was finally rewarded five minutes from time though as Arsenal’s Afobe converted to earn Blake’s men a valuable point.
