It was great to see our team back in action last night at Gander Green Lane, after what has seemed like an eternal close-season. With no Orient players involved in the Euros - quite surprising really - it was good to see an O's side for the first time in over two months and how the gaffer is shaping the squad for the forthcoming season with the newcomers.
Eight new signings is awesome. Just hope they all 'gel' and we can hit the ground running. Only time will tell if this is a better side than last season. However, even with the likes of Stephen Dawson, Charlie Daniels, Alex Revell and Elliot Omozusi we still had a shocking start and I just hope this current squad have that little bit more experience.
The signings of Lloyd James, Anthony Griffith, Mathieu Baudry and the loan import of Ryan Brunt will hopefully give the spine of the team a bit more solidity.
But, the new season is still a month away and it's good we're starting later this season. In recent years it's always been the first weekend of August - way too early. Hopefully this year will set a precedent and with some cooler weather, it will make watching and - more importantly - playing a lot easier.
Keep the faith
