Whilst it was a wash-out in Warsaw – with no doubt some fans caught between staying at home in front of the plasma or trekking over to E10 – it was certainly a case of one man – Scott Flinders – standing between Orient and the flood of goals we no doubt deserved.

We rained in the crosses all night long. In previous seasons the supply to our forward line has been – at best – below par – but last night Coxy and Moses provided excellent service and – fittingly – it was our star man who should supply the deep ball that led to Ryan Brunt’s third goal of what is turning out to be an impressive loan spell.

Having wisely not travelled to an ‘oh so predictable’ reverse at Bournemouth, Pools no doubt suffered a backlash from an Orient side keen to bounce back. And didn’t they do it in style?

I am sure on another day without a keeper in such inspired form, that we will hit someone for six, such was the ferocity of our forward line in terms of shots on target ratio.

To be fair we didn’t miss the target on too many occasions – but it was Flinders – in a Gordon Banks-type of performance – who must have been pressing Moses for the overall man-of-the-match accolade.

But it’s onwards and upwards with three games in seven days – starting at Oldham this Saturday. If they can perform anything like they did there last season, then surely a positive result must be on the cards.
