Wanstead were knocked out of the Conference Cup at the first-round stage after a four-wicket defeat to against Sawbridgeworth.
The Herons won the toss and decided to bat but under-performed and were dismissed for a modest 108, a total which their opponents reached for the loss of six wickets.
Chingford are safely through to the next round after convincingly beating Cockfosters by 114 runs.
Chingford put on 212 thanks to excellent innings from Alfie Taylor (63) and Andrew Joslin (44).
Cockfosters were unable to match that total as Taylor, Matt Smith and Nadir Noori all took two wickets apiece as their opponents were skittled for 98.
Fives and Heronians crashed out of the cup, losing to Finchley by 118 runs.
Finchley batted superbly before declaring on 277 for six and Fives weren’t up to the challenge as they were dismissed for 159.
Buckhurst Hill were also knocked out as they ran out of overs and lost to Brentwood by four runs.
Brentwood decided to bat first and finished on 220 for five as Buckhurst’s bowlers struggled to make inroads, with Rob Petchey (two for 40) claiming the best figures.
In reply, Russell Beckett’s 31 got Buckhurst off to a good start before Ed Buxton (37), Josh Peters (29) and Jamie Allen (53 not out) kept the visitors in contention.
Realising the need to up the run rate, Petchey hit 20 in 23 balls late on but it wasn’t enough and Buckhurst finished four runs short with three wickets to spare.
HERTS AND ESSEX LEAGUE
Woodford Wells Fourths beat Bishop’s Stortford Thirds by three wickets.
Wells chased down Stortford’s 203 thanks in part to Robert Harrison’s 60.
THE ESSEX SUNDAY LEAGUE
West Division
Loughton Sunday XI were heavily beaten by St Margaretsbury, who won by 149 runs.
Despite four wickets from Wajahat Bukhari and three from Abdul Nasir, St Margaretsbury put on 218.
Loughton were miles away in their reply as only Mahamad Ali Khail (27) came out with any credit as the team were bowled out for 69.
