Waltham Forest ladies continued their unbeaten start to the season with an emphatic 7-0 win at home against BBHC.

Forest started very strongly and scored after only three minutes, taking advantage of a quick free hit and Katherine Abbie netted with a shot from the right-hand side of the D into the far corner.

The home side doubled their lead with an excellent reverse stick shot from Lucy Butcher but made hard work of the first period as they struggled to get into their stride.

Waltham Forest’s play in the second period was much improved as player-of-the-match Abbie scored a third shortly after half-time, tapping in at the far post following some excellent attacking play on the left-hand side.

Butcher then got her second of the match with a fine strike from a short corner and Philippa Laguen de Lacroix made it five with a well-struck shot from the edge of the D.

Forest continued to open up the BBHC defence with some impressive passing and Amy Morris finished off a great set piece with a well-taken deflection.

The home side wrapped up their victory with a second goal from Laguen de Lacroix late on.

Waltham Forest men were left to count the cost of some defensive errors after losing 4-3 to Ipswich in a thrilling encounter.

Two goals from short corners against the run of play put Ipswich 2-0 up ahead but Forest came back through Rich Lowe before James Price equalised.

Forest’s defence looked comfortable and when Nico Kurt put the home team 3-2 up, three points looked likely.

However after failing to extend their lead further, Forest allowed Ipswich to draw level before some defensive mistakes allowed Lowe to put Ipswich ahead.

Despite having a man advantage for the final five minutes as a yellow card saw Ipswich a man down, Forest couldn’t break down the defence a fourth time.
